Alfred Vick, PLA, LEED Fellow
Alfred is the Georgia Power Professor in Environmental Ethics at the University of Georgia. He is a registered landscape architect and a LEED Fellow.
At the University of Georgia's College of Environment & Design he teaches landscape ecology and sustainable design and conducts research with the Sustainability and Landscape Performance Lab. His academic research focuses on green infrastructure and sustainable site design, native plant communities, and American Indian ethnobotany. He has published and presented extensively on these topics. He earned a BS in Engineering Psychology from the University of Illinois and a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Georgia.
His professional work has won multiple awards and has included several LEED-certified buildings, including the LEED Platinum headquarters of the Southface Energy Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. Alfred is past-Chair of the Sustainable Sites Technical Advisory Group for the US Green Building Council, Founding Chair of the Athens Branch of the US Green Building Council and is on the Board of Directors of the Athens Land Trust.
Stephen Brooks, PLA, LEED AP BD+C
Stephen Brooks is a registered landscape architect and a LEED Accredited Professional with a Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University's School of Landscape Architecture. Stephen complemented his education through hands-on experience with several design-build companies in the Southeast which formed the basis of his technical expertise. This experience lead him to become a managing owner within a well-known design firm where his designs can be recognized throughout the United States as well as internationally. His broad experience in project and client management provide a basis for strong team leadership capabilities necessary for civic, institutional, corporate, and commercial landscape architectural and planning projects.
With over 25 years of industry involvement, Stephen is a multiple award recipient from AIA, Georgia Chapter of ASLA as well as regional Chapters of ASLA. Additional awards include multiple LEED-certified projects, including the LEED Platinum Summit Trail for CHRIS Kids. His work has also been highlighted in industry publications, national video & television productions and he continues to provide numerous speaking engagements related to his experience. He has received a Horticulture Therapy Certificate of Merit from the Chicago Botanical Garden. Stephen is member and past-Chair for Georgia’s AIA Committee on the Environment and was recently presented with City of Smyrna Mayor's Award in Education for his volunteer efforts.
