The Southface Eco-Office is the LEED-Platinum headquarters of the Southface Energy Institute in Atlanta, GA.  The building also functions as demonstration facility and resource center for green building strategies.  It uses 53% less energy and 84% less water than a conventional office building.


Alfred Vick was the principal-in-charge for this project while employed by Ecos Environmental Design.

This constructed waterfall serves to stabilize a significant drop in elevation along the stream that flows from the Tully Smith Farm to the Quarry Garden at the Atlanta History Center.  Designed to mimic the step/pool morphology of natural riparian grade changes, this project not only achieved the functional requirements of the project but also created an aesthetic amenity.

Home to College of Computing's School of Computer Science and its Computational Science and Engineering Division, as well as multiple research centers & College of Computing Research Labs.  The LEED Gold design remains a benchmark for future planning on Georgia Institute of Technology's campus.

The stormwater harvesting system includes a 19,400 gallon cistern.  The project earned LEED-Platinum & EarthCraft Multi-Family Certification, received the EarthCraft Multi-Family Project of the Year Award, and was the first multi-family project to be registered under the U.S. Department of Energy's Builders Challenge.

The first 1.2 inch storm event is filtered through bioretention before being retained on site in two subsurface cisterns totally 170,00 gallons.

A native Piedmont Forest was emulated using varieties such as Pignut Hickory, Blackgum, Maple, Oak,  to provide an ecologically diverse landscape within a dense urban campus.

CHRIS Kids provides young adults who are homeless, parenting, leaving foster care, juvenile and/or mental health systems with super-vised apartment living.
